I'm pathetic and I know it.

But Huffington Post. Just the other day I read a post, not to say an article, by one of those Americans so egalitarian that he "always explained everyone art is about gut feeling." Followed by a luckily short because trendy tirade about how art is also cultural i.e. learned. Shallow. Insipid. Elementary.

Ditto for the lady herself. My favourite part must be when they Facebook their requests for reader comments. It's as if everybody is so stupid we must borg in.

I wish I could do little re-runs of John Ruskin or Samuel Johnson. Their style and intelligence definitely superior, I would do it if only I did not know that each new situation calls for the right mix of both old and new.

But we shall soon see the need for professional burrowers through library shelves. Or we won't - because none feel the need.

And as I once joked in one of my poems about a Croatian government official saying no to me: "in my hood, kids practice philosophy, saying - 'tis hardest thing in the world to explain a dumbman he is dumb."
