Good Old and New Days

I must say I'm quite proud I went to the same school as Edward Albee, even though for one year only. It's a fine albeit expensive institution but they are in a double bind when it comes to dear Mr Albee: just how do you advertise your most prominent student made his glory writing on the sterility of US academia?

Though not entirely to my credit, I too staged some youthful rebellion at the scene of the crime: I said no to this English professor when he finally considered my proposed English essay individual study course, and I asked the musicals teacher whether he was gay while we were taking a leak in men's room next to each other.

It's not really anybody's fault, you know, really. We should laugh about life's little misunderstandings, as I do in my mind and with my friends, good intentions presumed. A friend of mine made a joke about my letter to Obama: - Why on Earth did you send this letter? - I couldn't sleep!

I intended to finish this brief tribute by quoting that "a meeting is required for real stupidity" - however it turns out this was said by Edward Abbey. (I also once joked with some foreign youngsters I could not differentiate English and American culture.) I like to think he would endorse this though.
