"The spirit of small places is the spirit of uniformity; above all the spirit of ready-made, of template, a very specific form.[…] In the world of small places, it is more important to keep to the established custom well than be an individual. All that is predominantly individual (in no matter what direction) is undesirable above all because it is a promise of the "world" as pure negation of the small place - therefore a promise of stylistic polivalency, and this polivalency is, for the spirit of small place, pure incarnation of cacophony, the music of the very hell. […] The tyranny of the small place is the tyranny of insight into everything, or the tyranny of absolute clearness and publicity of everything. […] If there is an exception, the exception behaves grammatically: as proof of the rule and for its glory, and itself it is worthy but of contempt and derision.“
"Talk because of talk, without any deeper meaning, is accepted precisely because of the need to satisfy the need for experience, but also to boil down the very experience to an event (in which others participate) and therefore make it less dangerous. As a choir member from ancient tragedy, he provides tragedy and existence for interpretation but here, outside of tragedy, it turns to babbling; he believes, with his anti-tragic instinct, that tragedy is for crazy ones, for those who allow themselves to be cheated. He is firmly on his ground and will not be fooled. […] He wants to be some kind of absurd choir hero. […] By looking for the culprit outside, in the "world" […] this is not a philosophical spirit: a spirit turned to unknown truth, but an a priori spirit, which already owns the truth.“
