Folk Day

Just yesterday, I remembered a beautiful Russian folk fairy tale about the age of darkness that humans find themselves in. I believe you can find it in a recent collection by Slavenka Drakulić. But then again, "facts are stupid things."
Anyway, frightened and all, a boy starts explaining everyone he knows of a meadow with the sun shining and leads the way. Midway through, everyone starts grumbling, complaining and quarelling.
Finally, the boy tears his heart out to light the way. The people, catching a glimpse of the meadow, trample the boy down in order to get there first.
Yessir, I like my Russians real and raw! If somebody can supply more info on this one, I'd be greateful.
