Interview With Darko Rundek, in Novosti

Somebody asked me once: Are you a pure Croatian? Fuck me, I'm thinking to myself, who in Europe is pure? I'm sure Mongol hordes have sown a lot of seed here, not to mention Franks or Turks. So to speak of nations in terms of blood - this is idiotic. There is this historical process which defined certain standards in a territory and you are richer for being part of it. You can exchange information with more people and communicate using same codes. National identity means someting to me if it makes me more free.

I am now trying to picture getting a street named after me when I have died and frankly - I couldn't care less.

Life on loan, democracy that says nothing, citizen in capacity of consumer who feeds ever growing machinery - all of this multiplies into the end of capitalism. Alternatives are so far away from this system and the basic principles of its functioning that I do not know how they could be realised without severe rifts.
