I'm ashamed of this post for it is quite elementary. It seems sorely needed though.
Today I heard something like "We have won."
The whole point of any, even malfunctioning, democracy seems to be the "recurring suspicion" that more eyes see more.
It is not, nor is anything else for that matter, about others seeing like you do - it's about a sense of community.
I do not even subscribe to those fundamental human things - because there is simply no need: all humans do have a moral compass. And finally - do see - even if the vision is somewhat blurry.
It's about faith in the human condition; one could say pompously: I truly do believe in the human race.
As for things concrete, I underwrite those facetious expressions like "I am left with hope I was wrong voting against the Union" and "Greetings from Slovenians! We fucked Yugoslavia up - we'll do the same with Europe."
It is hard indeed to switch perspectives once you are used to your identity. As I wrote, just the other day a politician had to be "reminded" he was opposition no more.
And now comes the honest "cliche" part: I'll play along, contributing what best I can.
